Men's Golf Earns Ninth Place After First Day At RIC Invitational

 

Warwick, RI --- Freshman Patrick Sharron (Boylston, MA) helped the Worcester State men's golf team achieve a top 10 finish as a team on the first day of the Rhode Island College Invitational on Friday afternoon at the par 72 Valley Country Club.

The Lancers placed ninth with a score of 352 (+64) which was just 34 off of Husson, who edged the hosting Anchormen by two strokes for a final opening round sum of 318. Six strokes separate six different institutions vying for the eighth, ninth and tenth slots on the team leaderboard out of 17 in attendance.

Today's competition marks the first of the spring season for the Blue and Gold.

Sharon was the top finisher as he handed in a card of 87 (+15) to tie for 37th. Junior David Rixham (Northbridge, MA) and classmate Bryan Dunham (Tolland, CT) equaled 41st while first-year Steven Ferraro (Leicester, MA) tied for 49th (89; +17).

Junior Jackson Davis (Spencer, MA) rounded out the squad, finishing tied for 66th with a final first round score of 93.
