Men’s Golf Travels to Vermont for 32nd Annual Duke Nelson Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Worcester State Lancers men's golf team competed in the 32nd Annual Duke Nelson Golf Tournament at the par-71 Ralph Myhre Golf Course hosted by Middlebury College. The Lancers placed tied for 14th overall out of the 25 schools at the event.

 

Worcester State's top golfers at the tournament were senior Jackson Davis (Spencer, Mass.) and sophomore Mike Jezierski (Thompson, Conn.) who came in tied at 39th place individually, both carding a 159 in the two rounds of play. Jezierski improved by five strokes in the second day on the course.

 

Tied for 63rd place individually, was sophomore Eddie Peladeau (Douglas, Mass.) with a 163 (85-78), successfully decreasing seven strokes in his second round.

 

Junior Steven Ferraro (Leicester, Mass.) scored a 165 in the two rounds of play, carding an 82 in round one, and an 83 in the second. Junior Patrick Sharron (Boylston, Mass.) significantly improved upon his round one score for a total of 176 (93-83).

 

Overall, Worcester State shot 646 as a team, and took off six strokes from their first round with a 318 on Sunday.

 

"We've had a young team for a few years and they have steadily improved," said head coach Mark Gurski. "This weekend we saw some really big steps forward, and this was one of the best finishes at Middlebury in recent memory."

 

Next weekend the Lancers will take part in the Elms Invitational from Sep. 26-27.
