WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Worcester State University mixed golf team began the 2017-18 season today, as they traveled to the Tekoa Country Club to take part in the Brett Williamson Invitational.

RECAP

Westfield State's Kyle Fairbanks (Hoptkinton, Mass.) earned individual honors with a 72 at the invitational, leading his team to a 1st place finish. He won the playoff on the fourth playoff hole with a par, defeating Roger Williams' Derek Devereaux (Brunswick, Maine) in the final playoff round. Worcester State's team came in 13th place as Mike Manning (Bridgewater, Mass.) paced the Lancers, carding an 82 on the par-71, 6,438 yard golf course. Mark Clemente (Holden, Mass.) and Devan Kane (Holyoke, Mass.) followed with 85 and 89 strokes, respectively. Cati Morse (Orange, Mass.) was the final golfer for the Lancers on the course.

Next up the Lancers travel to Pittsfield, Mass. to take part in the MASCAC Championships, hosted by MCLA.
