Gastonguay leads Lancers to 6th Place Finish at the Rhode Island College Classic

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Golf team returned to competition this weekend when they took to the course in the Rhode Island College Classic in two days of strong competition. The opening day saw the Lancers in a strong position with first year John Gastonguay (Ashburnham, MA) tied for fifth as they entered the second day of the tournament.

Worcester State came into day two of the tournament sitting in seventh place with a score of 350, as Gastonguay led the team scoring a 78 over the 18 holes. Senior Max Joyner (Great Barrington, MA) recorded an 87, with junior Patrick Rennie (Bridgewater, MA) scoring a 92, sophomore Jack Ryan (Wakefield, MA) with 93 and the final of the five counted scores, sophomore TJ Conrad (Rutland, MA) recording a 94.

Day two action saw more of the same from the Lancers as Gastonguay claimed fifth place all for himself when he scored an 81 on the course to end the tournament at 159. Ryan moved up on day two, recording an 82, for a total round of 175 while Joyner knocked in a 90 for 177. Rennie saw his card reading 87 in day two action to bring his two day total to 179 and Conrad recorded a 98 to end the tournament with a 192, to bring the team score to 690 and a 6th place finish.
