Hurley Leads Lancers to Third at RIC Invitational

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State golf team was back in action this Spring in a weather shortened Rhode Island College Spring Invitational. The Lancers have been off since last Fall, where they wrapped up the season in strong fashion and were primed to continue the success in the Spring.

First year Zachary Hurley (Feeding Hill, MA) would grab the top spot for Worcester, and sixth overall, recording an 83 in the single round of action, followed closely by junior Wyatt Friedlander (Lake Placid, NY), who after wrapping up a strong hockey season in cage, took his swing practice to the green to record an 86 for seventh. Jon Wasserman would nab the third-place finish for the Lancers, and the 10th on the day, with a score of 89. Sophomore Jon Gastonguay (Ashburnham, MA) would sit in fourth for Worcester and 14th overall after recording a 92, just two strokes ahead of senior Patrick Rennie (Bridgewater, MA) who finished in 17th.

Worcester will return to action on Wednesday, April 24th, when they host the Rich Korzec Memorial Invitational at the Blackston National Golf Club.
