Cape Cod, MA --- Four Lancer student athletes have been selected
to the 2008-09 ECAC Northeast All-Academic team. In its eighth
year, 90 student athletes were honored from 17 of 18 ECAC Northeast
teams based upon their outstanding performance in the
classroom.
Sophomore's Chris Wallin (Avon, CT) and
Kristopher Matea (Taunton, MA) along with junior
classmates Thomas Papa, Jr (Oswego, NY) and
Mark Rintel (Queens, NY) were selected as the
representatives from Worcester State.
Curry and ECAC Northeast champion Nichols led the way with eight
student athletes followed by seven from Plymouth State while among
MASCAC schools Westfield State and Fitchburg State had five and
Framingham State had two. Salem State, a member of the ECAC North,
had 11 representatives.
To be named to the All-Academic team, the student-athlete must have
completed at least one academic year, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0
on a 4.0 scale and have completed at least one-half of his teams
contests during the current season.
The Lancers finished the season at 6-15-3 overall and 4-10-3 in
conference play under 17th year head coach John Guiney.
