Hockey Defeated in Championship by Fitchburg State

Worcester, MA ---  Fitchburg State College defeated Worcester State College, 1-0, to win championship as the Falcons freshman goalkeeper Bobby Leiser (Monroe, NY) outdueled the Lancers junior Andrew Evans (Cromwell, CT).  Leiser made 26 saves to post his first career shutout, while Evans was outstanding with 30 saves.  Leiser earned the tournament¹s Most Outstanding Player award.

The Falcons scored the game's only goal in the second period as freshman forward Ted Fabuab (Oakland, ME) beat Evans at 13:56.  The goal was assisted by senior John Coutts (Milford, CT) and senior Aaron Teirnan (Anchorage, AK).

Fitchburg State (2-1) hosts Curry Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Worcester State is at Wentworth, also on Tuesday, at 3:15 p.m.
