Auburn, MA --- Worcester State and Johnson & Wales scored an equal amount of goals to draw in overtime this evening in the consolation bracket of the Pepperidge Farms Face Off Classic.

First-year teammates Jordan Roberts (Littleton, CO) and Mark Owen (Denver, CO) each registered their first collegiate tally in the first period to help put the Lancers (0-0-2) on top 2-0 at the end of the first period. Roberts sent in his maker just 11 ticks into the game while Owen notched his goal 18 seconds before the end of the stanza on a power play opportunity.

WSU took a 3-0 lead early on in the second period as freshman Brendan Galley (Colorado Springs, CO) netted his first career goal with 1:01 off the clock.

But the Wildcats (1-2-1) got right back into the game with some help on back-to-back power play chances with two men off the ice as sophomore Trevor Jewell (Belgrade, MN) and classmate Jason Pietrasiak (Shrewsbury, MA) each scored for the visitors 4:03 apart early on in the second period.

Johnson and Wales would also outshoot the Lancers 39-15 in the second and third periods as the Wildcats eventually knotted the score up with 9:16 left. Pietrasiak snuck the equalizer by freshman goalie Taylor Fant (Denver, CO) as the puck caromed off of Fant's left pad into the net. Peitrasiak got some help on the play by junior Jeremiah Ketts (Scotch Plains, NJ) and sophomore Danny Kauffman (Foristell, MI).

The Wildcats held a commanding 7-0 advantage in shots in the five minute overtime period, but Fant stopped all of the shots he saw in the cage. Fant would end the contest with 55 saves for the Lancers. Sophomore Jake Menzel (St. Louis, MI) also collected 24 stops for the visitors.

The contest proved to be a physical one as the two sides were whistled for 17 penalties.

Senior Chris Wallin (Avon, CT) and sophomore Paul Concesion (Burlington, MA) were the representatives for the Lancers on the All-Tournament team while Jewell was the honoree for the Wildcats.

Worcester State will entertain Franklin Pierce on Thursday at home at 5:30 before they travel to open up MASCAC play with Framingham State at 7:30. Johnson and Wales takes on Wentworth on Wednesday to start their ECAC Northeast slate at 7:55 PM.
