Moran Named to MASCAC Men’s Ice Hockey Second Team All-Conference

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's junior forward Mike Moran (Milford, Mass.) has been named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) second-team all-league, as released by the conference Wednesday (Mar. 7) afternoon.

 

Moran completed the season with 16 goals and 16 assists for a team-best 32 points. Four of his goals were power play goals, and two were game-winners. He was in the top-10 in all the five statistical categories in the conference.

 

This season, a hat-trick against Franklin Peirce early in the season led him to MASCAC Player of the Week honors, and also a spot on the D3hockey.com Men's Ice Hockey Team of the Week.  More recently, Moran was selected as a semifinalist for the 18th annual Joe Concannon Award.

 

Under the direction of 4th year head coach Shayne Toporowski, the Lancers finished the season with a 13-11-2 overall record, and an 8-8-2 league record which led to a No. 3 seed in the MASCAC postseason tournament. The Lancers hosted the quarterfinal game against the No. 6 seeded Salem State, and unfortunately, fell 3-2.

 

UMass Dartmouth's Jonathan Ruiz was named the MASCAC men's ice hockey player of the year, while Sascha Figi of Fitchburg State was tabbed the MASCAC men's ice hockey rookie of the year. The Champion's Choice Coach of the Year award went to Dean Fuller of Fitchburg State.
