Corsairs Double-Up Lancers in MASCAC Opener

Worcester, Mass. - The UMass Dartmouth Corsairs got goals from six different goal scorers on the way to a, 6-3, win over the host Worcester State University Lancers on Thursday evening at the Worcester Ice Center.  The game was the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) opener for both teams.  The Corsairs improve to 2-1 on the young season while the Lancers fall to 0-3.

Worcester State jumped out to the lead at the 3:#4 mark of the first period when Max Tucker (Kalamazoo, MI) posted a power play goal.

UMD would counter with 5 straight goals to take a, 5-1, lead midway through the second period.  Goals by Dillon Radin (Long Beach, N.Y.) and Derek Britner (Salem, N.H.) gave the Corsairs the edge going into the first break.

Jake Maynard (St. John, Ind.) extended the lead to 3-1 with a power play tally minutes into the second frame.  Goals by Austin Miller (Meriden, Idaho) and Mekler Kroon (Malmo, Sweden) gave the Corsairs their largest margin of the night, 5-1.

A goal by Worcester State senior Max Roth (Chicago, Ill.) cut the margin to 3 heading into the second intermission.  Deiter Stange (Niles, Ill.) inched the Lancers closer at the 10:25 mark of the third period but UMass Dartmouth was able to stem the tide with their sixth and final goal coming from Kai Kapossy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla).

UMass Dartmouth netminder Daniel DAvidson (Surrey, B.C.) was solid in net making 25 stops while Jakub Kubik (Uherske Hradiste, Czech Republic) turned back 31 shots on the night.
