Lancers Doubled Up by Amcats in Men's Hockey Action

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University men's ice hockey team suffered a 6-3 defeat to Anna Maria in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday evening at Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.

Kevin Drevitch (Oxford, N.J.) had a goal and an assist for the Lancers (3-6), but Anna Maria improved to 3-4-2 behind a four-point day from senior Sam Cyr-Ledoux (Montreal, QC).

Ledoux scored twice in the third period as the Amcats pulled away for the win.

Worcester State fell behind three times but twice answered in the first period to tie the game, and the teams went to the first intermission tied at 2. Drevitch knotted things up at a goal apiece after Tyler Lyewski (Orlando, Fla.) had given the Amcats the lead just 3:35 into the affair.

Jack Sitzman (Redondo Beach, Calif.) again put Anna Maria ahead, but Worcester needed just 18 seconds from that goal to level things again when Martin Dlugolinsky (Stara Lubovna, Slovakia) scored his second of the year, with Drevitch and Nick Pennucci (Worcester, Mass.) both earning their second points of the period.

Jonathan Fowler (Tewksbury, Mass.) scored the only goal of the second period to put the visitors ahead, and Cyr-Ledoux extended that lead less than a minute into the third before Brian Clougherty (Lynn, Mass.) scored just seconds into a power play to cut the deficit to 4-3.

The Amcats answered with two more insurance goals, with Cyr-Ledoux and Quinn Tucker (Hancock, N.H.) both potting past freshman Wyatt Friedlander (Lake Placid, N.Y.), who made 39 saves.

Friedlander falls to 0-2 between the pipes for Worcester, while senior Julius Huset (Oakdale, Minn.) improved to 3-2-2 by making 31 saves.

Both sides were 1-3 on the powerplay.

Worcester State returns to MASCAC play on December 2nd when they host Salem State at 6:40 at Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.

Anna Maria also takes a break until December 3rd when they play at Rivier in Nashua, N.H.
