Ronan & Kubik Honored in Two-Win Week for Worcester State

WESTFIELD, Mass. – After helping the Worcester State men's ice hockey team to a pair of Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) victories, two Lancer student-athletes have been named Players of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Brendand Ronan (Saugus, Mass.) was named Player of the Week, while goalie Jakub Kubik (Uherske, Hradiste, Czech Republic) earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Ronan finished with two goals and two assists in a 2-0 week for the Lancers. The junior forward factored in each goal in the 3-1 win over Fitchburg State with two goals and an assist. He opened the scoring with the only goal of the first period, and then set up the eventual game-winner, a powerplay goal just ten seconds into the second and added an insurance goal later that frame. Ronan also had an assist in the Lancers' 3-2 win over Salem State, giving him four points for the week.

A first-year between the pipes for Worcester, Kubik logged wins in both of the conference victories. He held opponents to just three goals over two games with 52 total saves, a 1.5 GAA and a .945 save percentage. He made 32 saves and allowed just one goal in the 3-1 road win at Fitchburg State. At home, he made 20 stops as the Lancers beat Salem State, 3-2.

The Lancers (5-6) have one more game before winter break, a non-conference affair against Stonehill. Set for December 10th at Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center, puck drop will be at 6:50 between the Lancers and Skyhawks.
