Kubik named MASCAC Goalie of the Week

Worcester, MA- Worcester State Men's Ice Hockey sophomore goalkeeper, Jakub Kubik (Uherske Hradiste, Czech Republic), was named Goalie of the Week for the MASCAC after a 51 save 2-0 weekend, that saw Kubik record his first shutout of the season.


Kubik registered a 1.50 goals against average for the weekend, allowing only three goals in two games with a .944 save percentage. He recorded 29 saves in the 6-3 win over UMass-Dartmouth on Thursday night before sending aside 22 in the 6-0 victory at Saint Anselm two days later. Kubik has 293 saves on the season thus far, with a .902 save percentage in 10 appearances in net thus far this season.

Along with Kubik, senior forward Mikey Wilson (Alexandria, VA) was also selected as an honorable mention for his contributions this week. Wilson scored a goal and recorded three assists in the 6-0 win on Saturday.

The Worcester State Men's Ice Hockey team is back in action on Thursday night when they head to Amelia Park Ice Arena to take on Westfield State for a 7:35pm puck drop.
