Worcester State Men's Ice Hockey Releases 2023-24 Season Schedule

Worcester, MA – The Worcester State Men’s Hockey team, under first year Head Coach Jay Punsky, announce their 2023-24 season schedule. The Lancers return a core cast of athletes headed up MASCAC Second Team All-Conference selection Mikey Wilson. The Lancers fell in the MASCAC Championship last season to Plymouth State after setting a team record of 12 conference wins and the second seed in the tournament. Worcester ended the season at 14-12-1 (12-5-1, MASCAC) and look to return to the championship game this season.

“"We're very excited about our group. Our returning players were very dedicated this offseason and are highly motivated to continue building on last year's success” says Punsky. “Our incoming recruits seem eager to learn and have displayed a strong work ethic. Our lineup is very difficult to make which means we expect it to be extremely difficult to play against."

The men kick off their season bookending homecoming this season with the opening night of the Woo Cup seeing the Lancers take on the Anna Maria Amcats on October 27th prior to the final round puck drop on the 29th. Worcester State will have their first of three MASCAC Championship rematch battles when they welcome Plymouth State to Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Arena on November 2nd, before heading into a five game conference road trip that will see the team take on Framingham State on the 9th, followed by UMass-Dartmouth, November 16th, Fitchburg State on the 18th, a second rematch with Plymouth State on the 21st and closing out November at Salem State on the 30th.

December will see the Lancers back in Worcester, this time at the DCU Center to host MCLA on December 2nd. Worcester will stay home for the remainder of the month hosting Framingham State on the 7th and Westfield State to close out the 2023 portion of their schedule on December 9th. 2024 kicks off with the Cod Fishbowl hosted by Umass-Boston on January 5th and 6th and will see the Lancers continue on the road on the 11th and 13th as they travel to Westfield State and UMass-Dartmouth. The Lancers will then return home for three of their final four games in January as they welcome Fitchburg State, 18th, Salem State, 20th, and the final Plymouth State showdown on the 27th. The loan remaining trip in the month is a first-time trek out to MCLA on the 25th.

February will see Worcester State with three away and three home games to close out the stretch. The Lancers will journey to Framingham State on February 1st, and Fitchburg and Salem State on the 10th and 15th. The final home regular season contests will see Westfield State and UMass-Dartmouth travel to Worcester on the 3rd and 8th before the final regular season matchup with MCLA on the 17th plays host to senior night for Worcester State.
