Kubik and Schaaf Named to MASCAC Weekly Honors

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Ice Hockey team has two named to this weeks MASCAC honors as junior Jakub Kubik (Uherske Hradiste, Czech Republic) and first year Michael Schaaf (Nashua, NH) took home the honors. Kubik would end the week with the MASCAC Goalie of the Week while Schaaf was named Rookie of the Week.

Kubik registered a 1.50 GAA, 64 saves and a .955 save percentage in a 2-0 week for the Lancers. Made 41 saves in the 5-2 win over Salem State then added 23 more in the 6-1 victory over MCLA. The weeks victories gave the Lancers the edge over both teams to qualify for the MASCAC playoffs.

Schaaf tallied a goal and two assists for three points to secure a spot in the MASCAC Tournament for the Lancers. Tallied two assists in the 5-2 win over Salem State and then netted a goal in the 6-1 win over MCLA. Finished the week at +5.

Worcester State return to action on Thursday when they travel to UMass-Dartmouth to take on the Corsairs at 7:30pm in Hetland Arena in the MASCAC Quarterfinals.
