Four Lancers Named to MASCAC Men’s Soccer All-Conference Teams; Willis Tabbed Champions Choice Coach of the Year

WORCESTER, Mass. – Four Worcester State University men's soccer players have been named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Soccer All-Conference teams, as announced by the conference Wednesday (Nov. 2) afternoon.

 
 

Worcester State's seventh year coach, Jason Willis, has also been honored with an accolade, earning the Champions Choice Coach of the Year Award.   

 
 

Worcester State's sophomore forward, Bryan Brasil (Wililamsburg, Mass.), junior defenseman Matthew Dent (Ludlow, Mass.) and junior goalkeeper, Jason Barrett (Spencer, Mass.) all were named to the All-Conference First Team.

 
 

Brasil finished the regular season with a conference-best 10 goals (three game-winning) and two assists. Holding down the defense was Dent who, as a defender, still managed to score five goals (two game-winning) and assist two. As the Lancers' goalkeeper, Barrett marked a 7-2 record in 10 games played. Barrett held his opponents to a 0.94 goals against average and a .839 save percentage – best in the conference.

 
 

Joining the three on the First Team are MASCAC player of the year, Anthony Basile, and Edward Boateng of MCLA, Mick Rouette and Matthew McDonough of Mass. Maritime, Simon Appiah of Framingham State, Steven Martinez of Fitchburg State, and Filipe Gomes and Jonathan Piers of Bridgewater State.

 
 

Earning a spot on the All-Conference Second Team is senior forward, George Siotis (Oxford, Mass.). Siotis finished the regular season with seven goals and six assist to total 20 points. Siotis led the conference in the assists category and stands third in the MASCAC in points.

 
 

Joining Siotis on the second team is Bridgewater State's Sawyer Fleck and Kane Moran, Fitchburg State's Nick Masley, Framingham State's Johance Liverpool and Ken Stahovish, Massachusetts Maritime's Adam Crawford, Brendan Gawron, Scott Matoian and Mike Pruchnik, and Westfield State's Kory McGilvray.
