Alzamora Honored by MASCAC with All-Conference Nod

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore defender Matt Alzamora (Holden, Mass.) has been voted to the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Soccer All-Conference Second Team.

The teams, announced by the conference office on Wednesday, are voted on by the coaches from around the MASCAC. This is the first All-Conference honor for the sophomore, with teams not playing games last season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Alzamora appeared in 15 games this year, making the starting lineup in all of them. He added an offensive threat to the back-line of the Lancers, as he recorded two goals and three assists for seven points.

In a 1-1 draw with Mitchell early in the season, Alzamora provided the equalizer, scoring in the 77th minute to help the Lancers come from behind and earn points.

He also scored the tying goal in the regular season finale, finding the back of the net just before halftime against Mass. Maritime.

Alzamora was a key cog in back to back wins over Anna Maria and Fitchburg State. He set up a pair of goals in a 3-2 win over the Amcats, then added another assist and helped keep a clean sheet as the Lancers beat Fitchburg State 4-0.
