Lancers and Rams Battle to Stalemate 

Worcester, MA - The Lancers hosted the Framingham State Rams in a MASCAC showdown Saturday afternoon in front of a lively crowd at Coughlin Field. Both teams entered this game undefeated in the conference, with Worcester State holding a 3-0-2 record and Framingham 5-0. Tensions were high on both sides the entire game, with great chances made on both ends of the field. The support from the stands added onto the excitement these two teams brought to this highly anticipated game between the only two remaining undefeated teams in the conference. Despite the chances that were created, both teams were unable to put one in the net, resulting in a draw.

 

FINAL SCORE: Worcester 0, Framingham 0

 

Both the Lancers and the Rams were evenly matched with 14 total shots recorded, while Worcester led the way with seven of those shots on goal in comparison to Framingham's two. Lancer goalkeeper Andy Ramirez (Waltham, MA) played the entire 90 minutes and saved both shots on goal, while Framingham's James Hartshorn saved all seven. 

 

First-year forward Brady Iovanni (Lunenburg, MA) & Junior midfielder Manny Ramirez (Waltham, MA) both had three shots, while Junior defender Matt Alzamora (Holden, MA) led the team with two shots on goal. Framingham's Gustav Hemmingsen led the Rams with three shots.

 

Worcester State remains undefeated in the MASCAC; this draw brings them to a 6-3-6 (3-0-3, MASCAC) record on the season, while Framingham moves to 10-4-2 (5-0-1, MASCAC). 

 

The Lancers take a break from MASCAC play when they host the Keene State Owls next Thursday (kickoff scheduled for 7pm), followed by senior night and their final home match of the regular season against Mass Maritime.
