Worcester State Men's Soccer Finishes Fourth in Preseason Poll

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Soccer Team finished fourth in the MASCAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as announced Thursday by the league. The fourth-place finish is a repeat of their 2021 preseason poll finish.

The Lancers, who fell in the Quarterfinal game to Bridgewater State last year, are looking to return to the post-season tournament to battle it out for a conference championship. Worcester finished fourth in the preseason ranking with 27 points, sitting behind conference champion Salem State with 49 points and seven first place votes, Framingham State State with 42 points and a single first place vote and Bridgewater State with 38 points. The Lancers return All-Conference defender Matt Alzamora. He helped the team hold opponents to a .156 shot percentage while also netting two goals with three assists for seven points during the 2021 season. Falling behind the Lancers is MCLA, Fitchburg state, Westfield State and Mass Maritime in place order.

Worcester State will start their season on September 1 at WPI. The game is scheduled for a 6:30pm kickoff.
