Ramirez and Gavaletz Receive MASCAC Weekly Honors

Worcester, MA- Worcester State Men's Soccer team had two players receive MASCAC weekly honors this week after their dominant run in the post season that saw them clinch the MASCAC Championship yesterday afternoon in penalty kicks. Junior Andy Ramirez (Waltham, MA) was named the MASCAC Tournament MVP at the conclusion of the match for his strong performance all postseason.

Ramirez was named the Player of the Week by the MASAC after finishing with a .031 GAA, .929 save percentage and 13 saves as the Lancers claimed the 2022 MASCAC Men's Soccer Tournament title.  He made a key stop during penalty kicks in the championship game win over Bridgewater State, had five saves in the 1-0 upset win over #2 Salem State in the semifinals and four saves in the quarterfinal win over MCLA.

First year, Taylor Gavaletz (Dudley, MA), received Rookie of the Week where he tallied a goal and two assists for four points as the Lancers went 3-0 to win the MASCAC Men's Soccer Tournament title. Gavaletz a goal in the 3-0 quarterfinal win over MCLA and assists in the semifinal win over Salem State and the championship game win over Bridgewater State.

The Lancers, with the MASCAC Championship, receive the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament. The team awaits the announcement of their opponent, the selections show will air at 1:30pm today. The selection show can be viewed live here.
