Prior to coaching, Emil was a four year member of the Worcester State men's soccer team graduating in 2015 with a degree in Chemistry. As a member of the Worcester State men's soccer team, Emil was part of the MASCAC regular season winning team in 2013 as well as helping the team qualify twice for the ECAC tournament in 2011 and 2013. During his senior year he finished second in the conference in goals-against average with 0.80 per game.
