Cambridge, MA --- Freshman Stephen Gannon (Mansfield, MA) highlighted six first-place finishes to help lead the Lancers at the non-scoring MIT Co-Ed Invitational.

Gannon took first in the 400 meters (51.04) while he also helped the 4x400 meter relay team that was also comprised of juniors Jon Parrella (Wilmington, MA) and sophomore teammates Ramses Rafael (Lawrence, MA) and Kevin Maciel (Tewksbury, MA) take the top spot (3:32.49).
 
Other first place finishers included, third-year Tim Mazeika (Millbury, MA) broke his own mark in the 1,000 (2:36.65) to qualify for the Division III New England Championships, classmate Kerry Sabanty (Stoughton, MA) in the 600 (1:27.92) and junior Luke Curtis (Dudley, MA) in the 55 meters (6.79).

There were also several strong places in the short sprints including Parrella, Rafael and Maciel who each took second (51.63), third (51.96) and fourth (52.96), respectively, and Rafael finished fourth in the 200 (23.84).

In the field, sophomore Andrew Johnson (Thompston, CT) placed first in the high jump (1.96m/5-6) and freshman Daniel Ross (Foxboro, MA) finished second to qualify the ECAC Championships in the high jump (1.96m/6-5).
 
Freshman Duy Truong (Worcester, MA/Doherty) came in second in the long jump (6.14/20-1.75), third in the 55 meters (8.43) and third in the triple jump (13.42m/44-0.25).

Junior Harrison McCann (Rutland, MA) placed second in the shot put (14.32 m/46-11.75) and third in the weight throw (15.43m/50-7.50).

Senior Nick Capone (Billerica, MA) was third in the shot put (13.35m/43-9.50) as sophomore Matthew Begley (E. Bridgewater, MA) tossed sixth in the shot put (12.93m/42-5) and seventh in the weight throw (14.19m).

Junior Sebastian Bilenschuk (Mansfield, MA) added fourth in the weight throw (15.23m/49-11.50) while senior Nathan Hawkins (Westminster, MA) was right behind in the same event with sixth (14.51m/47-7.25) and freshman Robert White (Ludlow, MA) was eighth in the shot put (12.37m/40-7).

Freshman Adam Pepin (Paxton, MA) was second in the 3,000 (10:02.49) and classmate John Calo (Putnam, CT) placed third in the 600 (1:31.28).

First-year Matthew Alley (Milford, MA) and teammate Kevin Conant (E. Longmeadow, MA) were hundreths off in the 55 meters with Alley placing eighth (6.93) and Conant registering ninth (5.95) as freshman Shaun Corum (Billerica, MA) was 11th (6.98).

Sophomore Jason Sliwoski (Leicester, MA) rounded out the competators with fourth in the 55 meters (8.48) and fifth in the high jump (1.81m/5-11.25).

Next week the Lancers will compete at the Tufts Stampede Invitational as a tune-up for the MASCAC Championships in two weeks.
