White, Harmon Named MASCAC Men's Track Athletes of the Week

 

Westfield, MA --- Junior Robert White (Ludlow, MA) and freshman Markiesh Harmon (Leominster, MA) have both been honored with MASCAC Weekly laurels for helping lead Worcester State to a fifth-place finish at the Tufts Invitational this past weekend.

White was selected as the MASCAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week while Harmon earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week accolades for the second time this season.

White placed third overall and put up a new personal best in the weight throw for the second consecutive week as he finished the event as the top collegiate finisher

His toss of 48-11.75 (14.93 meters) improved his Division III New England Championship ranking to tenth in this week's standings while he currently is listed as the second-best weight thrower among teams in the New England Alliance.

Harmon had a tremendous day in the field with second place in the long jump (21-5.75/6.55m) and he stamped his ticket for the Division III New England Championships with a finish of fourth in the triple jump (42-10.5/13.07m).

As of this week, Harmon's performances from this past weekend in the long jump put him in the sixth slot in the Division III New England rankings while his triple jump is 12th. He has the second-best long jump in the New England Alliance and his triple jump is seventh.

Harmon comes off a solid first-year campaign playing in nine games and starting in four at defensive back for the Lancers. He finished the season in the top 10 on the squad in tackles with 29 (25 solo), tied for second in interceptions (3) and tied for third in passes defended.

The Blue and Gold will compete again next week at the Springfield Invitational.
