Sliwoski Takes Fifth In Heptathlon On First Day At Division III New Englands

 

Cambridge, MA --- Junior Jason Sliwoski (Leicester, MA) registered 2,591 points for fifth place in the heptathlon this afternoon on the first day at the Division III New England Championships hosted by MIT.

Sliwoski is just 103 points off of first place in a crowded field entering tomorrow's competition that included 12 individuals from around New England.

In the field events, he had the third-best long jump (20-10.75/6.37 meters) and shot put (39-11.50/12.18m) while his split in the 60 meter dash was fifth (7.50). He also added a leap of (5-8.75/1.76m) in the high jump which was among the top 10.

On January 16, Sliwoski placed seventh at the URI Heptathlon with 4,569 points, which was just 48 tallies off the school record he set last season at the ECAC Division III Championships. He also copped All-New England accolades in 2013 with fifth overall (4488 points).

He entered today's competition just 702 points off the national leader in 26th place on the leaderboard, junior Eric Larson (Waverly, IA) of Central College, who won the decathlon at the 2013 Division III Outdoor Championships.
