Men’s Indoor Track & Field Attends BU John Thomas Terrier Classic

BOSTON – A group of the men's indoor track & field team traveled to Boston this weekend (Jan. 29-30) to compete in the 2016 Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic – a meet that primarily consisted of NCAA Division I level student-athletes. They contested amongst some highly competitive schools at this meet.

 

Worcester State's 'A' group finished 38th in the 4x400 Meter Relay out of 52 teams competing. The group was made up of Anthony Lawson (Randolph, Mass.), Marc George (Framingham, Mass.), Marques Johnson (W. Hartford, Conn.), and Jared Barros (Taunton, Mass.) who totaled a time of 3:26.32 to qualify them for both Division III New England and ECAC Championships.

 

Barros was the first Lancer to complete the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 22.10 (22.50 converted) to put him in the 13th spot in the national rankings. Charles Newman (Westfield, Mass.) came in at 108th, while Andre Luciano (Milford, Mass.) and Benjamin Dussault (Assonet, Mass.) came in 120th and 141st place, respectively, out of the 178 competitors. Barros and Newman both qualified for Division III New England's in the event.

 

Worcester State's Mitchell Cupp (N. Attleboro, Mass.), Johnson, and Jeffrey Davis (Old Lyme, Conn.) ranked 68th, 69th, and 71st in the 500 Meter Dash with times of 1:09.46, 1:09.61, and 1:10:05, respectively.

 

Patrick Scheeler (Wakefield, Mass.) placed 54th in the 1000 Meter Run (2:38.85), while Devin Luce (Milford, Mass.) competed in the mile run for a time of 4:37.90.
