Carleton Wins Men’s Mile as Lancers Open 2021-22 Indoor Season

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Patrick Carleton (Tewksbury, Mass.) took first place in the men's mile on Saturday evening as the Worcester State men's track and field team opened their 2021-22 season at the Joe Donahue Games Opener at Reggie Lewis Center.

Carleton ran the mile in 4:36.80 to top the field, while teammate Colin Brennan (Newbury, Mass.) was third (5:12.22).

Brennan teamed with Drew Fottler (Chelmsford, Mass.), Daniel Clark, and Robert Doig (Ashby, Mass.) to take second in the 4x400 relay, with a time of 3:50.27. Doig also ran second in the 500 meters with a time of 1:13.44.

Fottler took seventh in the 400 meter finals (56.24), while Brendan Sharkey (Fort Wayne, Ind.) was 14th in a large field in the 200 meter finals.

Senior Kyle Haley (Mansfield, Mass.) took third in the triple jump with a mark of 12.8m.

The Lancers will not compete again until after New Year's, with their next meet set for January 28th at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic.
