Jacques and Boudreau Lead Men at Wesleyan Indoor Invite

Worcester, MA- In the second week of action for 2024, the Lancers Men's Track and Field was back down in Connecticut to compete in the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational down in Middletown, CT. The team made their presence known at Bacon Field House with numerous strong finishes from across a wide array of events. Junior Brodie Jacques (Rehoboth, MA) grabbed two top finishes on the track and field, while sophomore Seth Boudreau (Douglas, MA) followed that double specialty track to top success.

 

Jacques would grab the second place spring in the 60m with a time of 7.07 seconds with Boudreau just milliseconds behind in third with a time of 7.19 seconds The duo would team up again in the long jump, where Jacques would claim another 2nd place finish with a mark of 6.56m as Boudreau would cross in ninth with a 9.52m. Grabbing another top 10 finish were senior Matt Talbot (Belchertown, MA) who went full speed in the 5,000m for 7th, crossing in 18:01.84 and first year Jacksen Bolduc (Auburn, MA) who finished in 10th after nabbing a time of 3:00.09 in the 1,000m.

 

On the speed track side junior Giovanni Casiano (Oxford, MA) and first years Nolan Clarke (Mansfield, MA) and Makarios Kitenda (Lowell, MA) would go full speed in the 200m. Casiano would finish in 20th in 26.25, while Clarke and Kitenda would cross on each other's heels for 24th and 25th. Clarke would record a time of 26.48 and just a breath behind was Kitenda at 26.66. In the doubled length event of the 400m, sophomore Alan Gomez (Clinton, MA) would grab 22nd with a 60.89 as senior Anthony Paolucci (Billerica, MA) would finish in 27th with a time of 66.78 seconds. 

 

A few extra laps around the track did not diminish the success of the Lancers as sophomore Andrew Stokes (Wilmington, MA) would hit his stride in the mile, crossing in a time of 5:35.94 for 24th. Grabbing even more speed was sophomore Alex Matasuyasu (Newton, MA) who finished the 3,000m in 15th with a time of 10:54.28.

 

On the field event throwing specialist side senior Jack Houlihan (Rutland, MA) would snag 8th in the weight throw with a distance of 13.04m as fellow senior Matthew Long (East Bridgewater, MA) would mark a 10.84m for 13th. For the final Lancer marking in the weight, junior Max O'Connor would record a 9.76m for 17th. A fresh duo would hit the patch for the shot put as first years Daniel Butler (Tyngsboro, MA) and Garrett Papierski (Webster, MA) along with double duty performer O'Connor. Papierski would toss for 11.61m grabbing 13th as Butler would reach 9.44m for 23rd. O'Connor would finish just behind in 25th with a 9.19m mark.  

 

Wrapping up the day was the 4x400m team made up of Gomez, Talbot, Bolduc and first year Joey Moriarty (Plymouth, MA). The team would grab the 8th spot with a time of 4:04.59.

 

Worcester State Track and Field returns to action on February 3rd in their final action before the MASCAC Championship, when they head to Plymouth State at the Panter Invite.
