Men's Track Places Fifth at Holy Cross Meet

Worcester, MA --- Sophomore Nate Starling (Braintree, MA) had a breakout afternoon as he recorded fourth in the 110 meter hurdles (15.33) and sixth in the 100 meter dash (11.28) to help lead the Worcester State men’s outdoor track and field team to finish fifth at the Holy Cross. The meet was a warm-up for the MASCAC Championships on Saturday at UMass Dartmouth.

Senior Jim Macera (Paxton, MA) added a strong showing in the field as he had personal best distances as he tossed seventh in the discus (41.13 meters) and eighth in the hammer (47.14 meters) while classmate Matt Leeds (Bellingham, MA) leaped third in the long jump (6.59m) followed by first-year Todd Paquin (Pelham, NH) was fifth (6.59m).

Starling’s time in the hurdles was good enough to qualify for the ECACs and the All-New England Championships while Macera stamped his ticked in the discus for the Division III New England’s. Paquin also clocked eighth in the 100 (11.34) to meet the mark required for the DIII New England’s.
