Men's Outdoor Track Performs Well At Weslyean Invitational

 

Middletown, CT – Senior Todd Paquin (Pelham, NH) was a double winner individually with first overall in the 100 meters (11.04) and long jump (20-11.50/6.29m) as he helped pace the Worcester State men's outdoor track and field team at the non-scoring Wesleyan Invitational.

Junior Duy Truong (Worcester, MA/Doherty)  was first in the 110 meter hurdles (15.53) and second in the 100 (11.10).

Classmate David Germain (Malden, MA) cleared the top height in the high jump (6-2/1.88m) and recorded a runner-up time in the 110 meter hurdles (16.47) as junior Dan Ross (Foxboro, MA) equaled the mark with a Division III New England mark in the high jump>

Third-year Patrick Bova (Princeton, MA) paced the distance corps with the top 1,500 split (4:19.81) and seventh in the 800 (2:03.71) followed by teammate Adam Pepin (Paxton, MA) who placed first in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (10:56.11) and fifth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:01.62).

The 4x100 meter relay of Truong leading off, Paquin second, junior Matthew Alley (Miford, MA) and freshman Jared Barros (Taunton, MA) placed first (42.85) while the 4x400 team of junior Shaun Corum (Billerica, MA), first year Shane McKinley (Melrose, MA), Bova and Barros as the anchor sprinted to a top time of 3:31.49.

Freshman Charles Newman (Westfield, MA) also placed fourth in the 100 (11.21) and Alley was right behind in fifth (11.26) as the pair qualified for the Division III New England's in the event.

Junior Stephen Gannon (Mansfield, MA) added second in the 400 (50.18) and fourth in the 200 (22.47) while senior Ramses Rafael (Lawrence, MA) finished third in the 400 (50.20) and sixth in the 200 (22.76) for a pair of Division III New England standards.

Barros was fourth in the 400 (51.27) and fifth in the 200 (22.57)

In the field, junior Mario De Jesus (Lawrence, MA) recorded the top javelin toss (159-6.25/48.63m).  Sophomore Dana Perry (Mendon, MA) notched second in the triple jump (39-6.50/12.05m) and sixth in the long jump (19-0/5.79m).

Junior Jason Sliwoski (Leicester, MA) was the runner-up in the discus (127-0/38.71m) while freshman Sam Weeks (Methuen, MA) impressed with third in both the shot put (44-9.75/13.66m) and discus (123-6/37.64m) as well as fifth in the hammer (125-7/38.29m).

Third-year Matthew Begley (E. Bridgewater, MA) marked up second in the shot put (45-1.75/13.76m) and fourth in the discus (122-10/37.43m).

Classmate Robert White (Ludlow, MA) finished up his day with fourth in the shot put (41-4.50/12.61m) as he also registered fifth in the hammer (127-11/39.00m) and discus (112-10/34.40m).

Sophomore James Brodeur (Miford, MA) and freshman Andrew Valle (Stoughton, MA) were third (156-10/47.80m) and fourth (140-10/45.66m), respectively, in the javelin.
