Men's Outdoor Track & Field Runs Jim Sheehan Invitational

FITCHBURG, Mass. - A pair of top-two finishes from junior Kyle Haley (Mansfield, Mass.) highlighted Worcester State University men's outdoor track & field's non-scoring meet Saturday at the Jim Sheehan Invitational.

Haley won the long jump on the day with a leap of 6.38 meters while placing second in the triple jump at 12.73 meters. His winning long jump distance was good for a PR.

Two other Lancer field athletes finished second in their respective events, as Hoang Vo (Worcester, Mass.) tied for second in the pole vault at 3.35 meters, while Colin Brennan (Newbury, Mass.) PRed in the javelin at 51.13 meters to place second. Also in the javelin, first-year Matt Long (East Bridgewater, Mass.) finished fifth with a heave of 43.19 meters.

On the track, junior Patrick Carleton (Tewksbury, Mass.) was the second place finisher in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:33.37. In the 5,000 meter run, classmate Drew Fottler (Chelmsford, Mass.) was fourth with a time of 16:26.80. Sam Magee (Salem, Mass.) rounded out the distance runners with a sixth place finish in the 800 meter, running a time of 2:08.90. 

Sprinter Michael Butten (Marblehead, Mass.) recorded a pair of top-six finishes on the morning. He was fifth in the 200 meter dash at 23.81 and sixth in the 100 meter dash at 11.75 seconds.

Worcester State will return to action next Saturday at the Jerry Gravel Invitational, hosted by Westfield State University.
