Jacques and Brennan Lead the Way at Day Two of the DIII NE Championships

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Outdoor Track and Field spent this weekend competing in several events in a bid to clinch qualification to the NCAA Championships later this month.

On day two of the event, the first day to see Worcester State competitors, the team took to the field with sophomore Brodie Jacques (Rehoboth, MA) competing in the Long Jump and senior Colin Brennan (Newbury, MA) competing in the Javelin. Jacques finished in 15th place with a jump of 6.54m. Brennan closed out the day for the Lancers with a 17th place finish in the javelin a 49.13m throw.

In the final day of action in Springfield junior Jack Houlihan (Holden, MA) would place 20th in Discus with a 38.77m toss while first year James Riley (Shrewsbury, MA) would race through the 3000m Steeplchse in a blazing time of 10:18.38.

Worcester State also had three relay teams on the docket for Saturday as the 4x100 team made up of senior Brendan Sharkey (Fort Wayne, IN), Jacques, sophomore Giovanni Casiano (Oxford, MA) and first year Elvis Velez (Clinton, MA) crossed in a time of 44.47 for a 15th place finish at the event. Also coming in 15th was the 4x400 team, made up of first year Seth Boudreau (Douglas, MA), Sharkey, Velez and first year Taylor Gavaletz (Dudley, MA), in a time of 3:36.71. The final relay team, the 4x800, would cross in a time of 8:45.59 for 17th. The 4x 800 team is made up of first year Alexander Lucier (Gardner, MA), junior Matthew Talbot (Belchertown, MA), Brian O'Leary (Marlborough, MA) and senior Daniel Clark (Worcester, MA).
