Boudreau Sets Pace at Penman Relays

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Outdoor Track and Field team journey to Southern New Hampshire today for a wind ridden Penman Relays. Worcester would battle the whipping wind and weather to make their mark against a wide range of talented competition. The Lancers would grab a number of top finishes on the day as they battled it out with competitors from all over. 

 

Topping the short track was junior Brodie Jacques with a time of 11.17 for third in the 100m, just a breath ahead of sophomore Seth Boudreau (Douglas, MA) in fourth with 11.30 seconds. Boudreau what ump his speed in the 200m, claiming second with 22.89 as first years Kevin O'Brien and Pius Baidoo (Worcester, MA), junior Nicholas Violette (Webster, MA), sophomore Alan Gomez (Clinton, MA) and senior Anthony Paolucci (Billerica, MA) would snag 33rd, 43rd,46th, 51st and 58th with times of 24.61, 25.32, 25.38, 25.70 and 27.58 seconds in the multiclass event.

 

Gomez would be the lone sprinter to compete for the Lancers in the 400m, claiming 31st in 57.76 seconds. First year Jacksen Bolduc (Auburn, MA) would lead the charge in 800m for Worcester, crossing in 24th with a time of 2:14.46, just ahead of junior Brian O'Leary (Marlborough, MA) and sophomore Andrew Stokes (Wilmington, MA). O'Leary would finish in 27th in 2:17.46 as Stokes would claim 32nd at 2:29.51. 

 

Senior Matt Talbot (Belchertown, MA) would do the long distance work twice as he competed in the 3,000m claiming 3rd with a time of 11:09.14 along side sophomore Alex Matsuyasu (Newton, MA) who finished in 18th with an 18:03.18 time in the 5,000m to wrap up the events on the day.

 

In the field Worcester continued their success with Boudreau finishing 10th with a 5.91m mark in the long jump ahead of Jacques in 18th with a 5.45m landing. Baidoo would sail into 6th in the triple jump with a 12.22m leap just ahead of first year Jax Christman (Lancaster, MA) who finished in 11th with a 10.75m mark. 

 

The throwing sector was just as proficient as first year Garrett Papierski (Webster, MA) would claim seventh on a 11.95m toss in the shot, just ahead of junior Max O'Connor (Dedham, MA) in 13th with an 11.24m landing. O'Connor would lead the talent in the discus with a 38.82m tossfor fourth, just edging out senior Jack Houlihan (Rutland, MA) who came in fifth with a 37.51m. Rounding out the event was sophomore Harley Philliple (Lowell, MA) in 10th at 34.07m) and Papierski in 12th with a 31.09m.

 

Houlihan would lead the pack in the Hammer, landing in seventh with a 40.61m toss, this time just ahead of senior Matt Long (East Bridgewater, MA), O'Connor and Papierski who went 10th 12th and 13th in the event with 36.71m, 35.32m and 34.55m marks. First year Daniel Butler (Tynsgboro, MA) would wrap up the event for the Blue and Gold with a 16th place finish on a 32.31m measurement. Long would end his day with an additional event, claiming 17th in the javelin on a 37.91m landing. 

 

Worcester State is back in action next Saturday when they head to the Bonnie Edmondson Classic in their final tune up before the MASCAC Championships on April 27th.
