Men's Cross Country Opens Season At Jim Sheehan Invitational

 

Leominster, MA --- Junior Patrick Bova (Princeton, MA) and freshman Will Whearty (Walpole, MA) both placed inside the top 15 to help lead the Worcester State men's cross country team to third place at the Jim Sheehan Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Doyle Reservation.

Bova scaled the 4.75 mile course in a time of 30:06 for eighth place overall while Whearty was just 30 seconds off in 11th (30:36). Senior Pat Daley (Millbury, MA) and junior Wesley Hebert (Leominster, MA) both finished 14th (31:11) and 15th (31:24), respectively, as freshman Brett Robinson (Westboro, MA) added 21st (32:29).

Junior Adam Pepin (Paxton, MA) notched 23rd (33:01) and freshman John Leary (Worcester, MA/South) rounded out the top seven with a time of 30:10 for 24th place.  

In a meet that featured 41 competitors, the Falcons won their home meet with 24 points, followed by the eight-man Fitchburg State Alumni crew's total of 45 points. WSU tallied 63 points as a team as the meet kicked off the year for the men's cross country team.

Next week the Lancers head north to compete at the 5k Franklin Pierce Invitational.
