Men's Track Earns Fourth Place At Worcester City Meet

 

Paxton, MA --- Freshman Brady Phillips (Uxbridge, MA) captured the top finish in the collegiate race this afternoon to help propel Worcester State to fourth overall at the Worcester City Men's Cross Country Championship held at Moore State Park.

Assumption snapped a 20-year winning streak by WPI with the top team finish (36 points), followed by the Engineers (51 points), Clark (63) and the Lancers sum of 94 points.

Phillips paced the field with an impressive split of 28:09 while classmate Jason Bangs (Charlton, MA) notched 16th (29:29) and freshman Patrick Scheeler (Wakefield, MA) recorded 24th (30:52).

Rookie Daniel Brunelle (Dracut, MA) crossed the line in 28th (31:05), Bryant Va (Lowell, MA) added 31st (31:35) while the group of first-year Marques Johnson (W. Hartford, CT), senior Adam Pepin (Paxton, MA) and freshman Devin Luce (Milford, MA) placed 35th (32:13), 36th (32:24) and 37th (32:56), respectively.

Next week the Blue and Gold will compete at the Tri-States Invitational hosted by CCRI in Lincoln, Rhode Island.
