Men's Cross Country Places Fifth At Western New England Invitational

 

Springfield, MA --- Freshman Brady Phillips (Uxbridge, MA), classmate Jason Bangs (Charlton, MA) and teammate Patrick Scheeler (Wakefield, MA) all were among the top 30 as the Worcester State men's cross country team placed fifth on Saturday morning at the Western New England Invitational.

The Lancers scored 131 points as a team as they were 38 points off from second place, which was tied by Southern Vermont and Colby Sawer. Roger Williams hosted the team trophy.

Phillips posted a solid individual time with 10th overall (27:24.47) followed by Bangs who captured 23rd (28:33.00) and Scheeler was just off the pace in 26th (28:46.28).

Freshman Marques Johnson (W. Hartford, CT), rookie Devin Luce (Milford, MA) and first-year Daniel Brunelle (Dracut, MA) notched 40th (29:18.00), 41st (29:19.44), 48th (29:32.44) respectively, followed by sophomore Will Whearty (Walpole, MA) who finished 54th (29:40.22).

Senior Adam Pepin (Paxton, MA) rounded out the group with 61st place (29:48.78).

The Lancers will take a week off before competing at the MASCAC/Alliance Championships on November 1 at Mount Greylock.
