Worcester State Competes at Connecticut College Invitational

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Cross-Country team travelled down to Connecticut College for an early afternoon race, the last in a prep series before heading back to defend last seasons conference championship. The team was a strong presence on the course this afternoon, finishing 13 on the afternoon just edging out Clark University.

The Lancers were led by first year James Riley (Shrewsbury, MA), with a time 28:36.2 and came in 57th out of the field of 139 racers at the meet. Following close to two minutes behind his teammate was sophomore Matthew Talbot (Belchertown, MA) finishing with a time of 30:20.9 and in 92nd. Rounding out the finisher in the top 100 was first year Alexander Marasuyasu (Newton, MA) with a personal best time of 30:44.5. The final two finishers for the Lancer squad senior Elias Boone and first year Eric Ames (West Bridgewater, MA) finished just outside the top 100 and about 40 seconds off from each other with times of 31:13.7 and 31:54.5, a personal best for Ames.

Additional finishers for Worcester State were senior Daniel Clark (Worcester, MA) with a time of 32:18.7, and first years Alexander Lucier (Gardner, MA) at 32:24.6 and Andrew Stokes (Wilmington, MA) wrapped it up for the team with a finish of 33:50.6.

The Worcester State Men's Cross-Country team is set to defend their MASCAC Championship on October 29, when the team returns to Stanley Park to compete in the MASCAC Championships hosted by Westfield College.
