Bartlett and Maloney Receive MASCAC Weekly Honors

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Softball team kept the MASCAC Honors streak going this week as they again were recognized for their strength of play this week. Senior Emily Bartlett (Lowell, MA) was picked for the 4th time as MASCAC Pitcher of the Week, while first year Peyton Maloney (West Boylston, MA) received her first MASCAC honor of the season, being named Rookie of the Week.

Bartlett went 2-0 over 12.1 innings of work, giving up four earned runs, nine hits and 19 strikeouts for the Lancers. Went the distance, giving up one hit and no runs with 10 strikeouts in the 10-0 win over Bridgewater State. Finished with nine strikeouts and four runs allowed in the 5-4 win over Fitchburg State. Bartlett has recorded a 10-4 record on the season with eight complete games and 112 strikeouts for a 2.39 ERA on the season.

Maloney pitched 17 innings with a 2-0 record for the Lancers with a 2.47 ERA, 11 strikeouts and four walks. Threw a complete game without allowing a run with five hits and five strikeouts in the 1-0 win over Fitchburg State. Allowed no earned runs with five strikeouts and two hits over 4.1 innings of work in the 14-5 win over Bridgewater State. In her first season, Maloney recorded a 5-1 record with two complete games and 22 strikeouts for a 3.10 ERA.

Worcester State Softball is back on action Wednesday at 4pm when they welcome Lasell college for this season’ Rosen Cancer Awareness Pink Out Game.
