Framingham, MA --- The Worcester State College women's basketball team forced 33 turnovers and converted those turnovers into 31 points as the Lancer defeated the Framingham State College Rams in Framingham tonight 64-54.  With the win, the Lancers improve to 4-10 on the season and 2-1 in Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action, while the Rams fall to 4-8 overall and 0-3 in the MASCAC.

Despite shooting 29% (9-31) from the floor in the opening half, Worcester State opened up an eight point half time lead. The Lancers forced 16 first half turnovers by the Rams and converted those into 11 points and they grabbed 13 offensive rebounds which they converted into 10 second chance points.  The Rams were able to stay in the game as they shot 41% (9-22) from the floor in the opening half and were led by senior Christina Bordini (Chelmsford, MA), who had the Rams first nine points of the game.

The Lancers extended their lead to as many as 15 in the second half as they forced 17 second half turnovers from the Rams and caught fire from the field as they shot 40% in the second half to the Rams 35%.  The Rams were able to mount a late come back and cut the lead to 6 on a three from sophomore forward Taryn DiFilippo (Revere, MA) with 3:02 remaining. Senior forward Maureen Lemay (Nashua, NH) would steal a post entry pass on the Rams next possession and convert a lay up to extend the Lancers lead back to 8 with 2:22 remaining.

The Rams would cut the deficit back to 5 on a three from freshman Nicole McConaghy (Medford, MA) with 1:22 remaining.  The Rams full court pressure forced a Lancer turnover and Bordini cut the deficit to 3 at 55-52 with a tough lay up inside.  Freshman Kathleen Foley (Hudson, NH) hit a jumper to push the lead back to.  That was as close as the Rams would get as senior guard Lindsay DelleChiaie (Leominster, MA), who finished 13 points including 8 of 8 from the stripe, sank four of four free throws down the stretch to seal the win.  Lemay finished the day with a team high 14 points and 8 boards.

Bordini once again led the Rams offensively with a game high 18 points and 7 boards.  Bordini became the 7th Framingham State College women's basketball player to reach the 1,000 point miles stone on a free throw with 10:59 remaining in the game.  Bordini know has 1,004 points in her outstanding career.

The Framingham State Rams return to action on Saturday January 26th as they travel to Salem State for a 1:00 game, while the Lancers travel to Tufts on Thursday at 7:00.
