New York, NY - Junior forward Jessica McEntee earned Tournament Most Valuable Player honors, leading four players in double digits with 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists as the New York University women's basketball team defeated Worcester State College 90-55 in the NYU Classic on Sunday at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

Junior center Megan Fox also earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team and finished a rebound short of her first career double-double, notching 10 points and nine rebounds for the Violets (4-0).  Sophomore guard Jen Hum-Traverso and freshman forward Bianca Storts each had 10 points, two assists and two steals in the victory.

Lindsay DelleChiaie led all scorers with 17 points and earned All-Tournament honors for the Lancers (0-5).  Alexis George added 12 points in a losing effort.

NYU dominated from the outset, using its stingy defense to set up several scoring opportunities.  The Violets forced 15 Lancer turnovers, turning them into 20 points in taking a 46-27 lead into the break.  McEntee scored 11 points in the first 20 minutes, while Brown tallied eight.

NYU shot 46.2% from the floor, including 64.3% (9-for-14) from beyond the three-point arc, and 77.8% (21-for-27) at the charity stripe.  The Violets also owned a 42-29 edge on the glass.

Junior forward Sarah McDevitt scored eight points in 12 minutes for NYU and earned All-Tournament accolades after scoring a game-high 17 points against FDU-Florham on Saturday.  Junior guard Gena Brown had nine points, four assists and four rebounds for the Violets, while senior guard Chelsea Trout tallied eight points.

Kristen Benigno netted eight points for Worcester State, which shot 45.2% (19-for-42), including 27.3% (3-for-11) from long range, and 56.0% (14-for-25) on its free throws.

NYU returns to action Saturday, Dec. 1, when it hosts SUNY New Paltz at 6 p.m.
