Lancer Women's Basketball Falls Victim to Stevens Institute

Hoboken, NJ --- Senior guard Dani Dudek (Rockaway, NJ) posted a triple-double on 18 points, 11 boards and 10 assists to help lead the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team to its seventh-straight win of the season in a convincing 80-54 victory over Worcester State College Saturday afternoon in Hoboken, N.J. Sophomore forward Victoria Webber (Houston, TX) led the squad in points (19) as she finished eight of 12 from the floor.

Stevens took an early 18-5 lead with over 12:40 remaining in the first half. Sophomores Paige Armstrong (Fairhaven, NJ) and Webber posted the first nine points recorded by the Ducks. Stevens continued to apply pressure throughout the first half as it recorded four steals. Ahead 36-15 with under 4:30 to play, the Lancers posted their only run of the game behind the offensive push from sophomore guard Kathleen Foley (Hudson, N.H.). Foley nailed a jumper and then hit a deep three on their next possession. Stevens went into the half having led 40-24.

The second half was no different for the Ducks. In the first 10 minutes, Stevens accumulated 21 points to jump ahead 61-40. During that stretch, Dudek and Webber combined for 15 of the 21 points registered by Stevens. Dudek also tallied five assists in that time. The Ducks closed out the contest with a 19-14 spurt, fueled by three Webber layups and a pair of jumpers by freshman Melissa Collier (Woodbridge, VA). Stevens shot 54.5 percent (30 off 55) from the floor and hit five three-pointers on the day. Worcester was 17 of 52 shooting (32.7%) and drained four three-point field-goals. The Ducks out-rebounded the Lancers 32-31 and finished 15 of 17 from the line.

Dudek played 33 minutes as she was seven of 11 from the floor. She was also a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe, in addition to her two steals. Webber finished eight of 12 shooting and pulled in three boards. Collier had a season-high 10 points as Fuller finished with 11 in the victory.

Stevens has closed out play for the 2008 academic year. The Ducks will return to the court on January 2, 2009 in Rochester, N.Y. The squad will being Empire 8 play as Stevens will face Nazareth College at 6 p.m.
