Charette Tabbed To All-MASCAC Women's Basketball First-Team

 

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Worcester State senior guard Kaleigh Charette (Fairhaven, MA) has been selected to the All-MASCAC Women's Basketball first-team in a vote by the leagues seven head coaches this past Monday.

For Charette this is her third career all-conference honor as she was named to the All-MASCAC second-team during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 campaigns.

This season Charette has been sensational, putting up career highs in both points and rebounds. As of the end of the regular season, she was tied for ninth in the MASCAC in total scoring (319), 11th in average scoring (12.8) while she is fifth in total rebounds (193) and seventh in average (7.7).

Charette is also in the top 15 in the conference in field goal percentage (11th - .405), average steals (12th – 1.8) and assists (13th – 2.5). When her caroms are broken down by category, she is 7th in average offensive boards (3.1) and 10th in average defensive caroms (4.6).

The squads defense unit is ranked among one of the best in the region as Charette been instrumental in leading the squad to the 15th best field goal defense in New England (.351) and the 26th best scoring defense (56.6 points per game). The Blue and Gold lead the MASCAC in both categories.

Charette is currently ranked ninth on Worcester State's all-time scoring list with 1,164 points. In a school-record 109 career games, she also has averaged 10.7 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per contest, 1.72 assists and 1.5 steals.

The fifth-seeded Lancers will travel to top-seed Bridgewater State on Friday for a 5:30 PM matchup in their fourth-straight MASCAC Tournament Semifinals appearance.

Charette notched her seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 boards in WSU's first-round 61-52 triumph over #4 Westfield State.
