O’Keefe Earns Co-MASCAC Player of the Week Nod

 

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Senior Meaghan O'Keefe (Warren, MA) has been selected as Co-MASCAC Player of the Week for her standout performance in a win over Fitchburg State last week. For O'Keefe it marks the third time that she has garnered weekly laurels from the MASCAC.

In their only contest this past week, O'Keefe registered a career-best 29 points to go with 12 rebounds in a 71-46 victory over the Falcons. It marked her 14th double-double of the campaign and she was 11-for-16 from the field with a pair of three-pointers.

O'Keefe is having a monster season for the Blue and Gold as she has been averaging 15.8 points, 12.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 23 contests for the Lancers.

As of this past weekend, O'Keefe leads the MASCAC in average and total rebounds (296), average and total blocks (40) while she is tied for third in scoring per game and she is third overall with 363 points.

She is also fourth in the league in three-point field goal percentage (.338 – 24-for-71) as well as fifth in both field goal percentage (.484) and free-throw percentage (.865).

Among NCAA Division III leaders as of Thursday, February 7, O'Keefe is ninth in average rebounds and eighth in total boards.

She is one of 14 female student-athletes nationally with 14 or more double doubles while she is also one of four in New England that includes senior Hayley Zopin (Framingham, MA) of Nichols.

O'Keefe is just 32 points away from having the fifth-most points scored in a season, 45 away from having the second-best rebounding total in a campaign and she is 11 blocks away from being the second-highest block leader at Worcester State.

In 91 games, her career (726) and average (7.98) caroms are fourth-most in school history.

O'Keefe shares this week's honors with junior Ashley White (Salem, MA) of Salem State.

Worcester State closes out the regular season with a home meeting with first-place Bridgewater State on Thursday at 6 PM before they head to Salem State for a 3:30 matchup.
