Perez Selected MASCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week

 

Westfield, MA --- Freshman Nani Perez (Worcester, MA/Holy Name) has received the nod as this week's MASCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for her solid efforts in helping Worcester State in a trio of victories.  

Perez averaged 7.7 points, 4.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds for the Lancers which included 10 points and four boards in a 60-38 conference victory over MCLA while also tallying 10 points and five helpers in a 72-63 triumph over Suffolk.

Among leaders in the conference statistical standings, Perez is second the league in both average assists (4.5) and total dishes (58) as the Lancers have the best team assist average in the MASCAC (15.8 per game).

This season, Perez has impressed with four double-digit scoring performances and at least five assists in eight of her 13 contests.

Among NCAA Division III leaders, Perez is second among active first-year players in assists, tying for 60th overall. Her assists per game are also ninth among all student-athletes in New England.

The Lancers (10-3, 1-0 MASCAC) will play three games in the next week starting with Salem State tonight at Assumption (6 PM) before taking on Keene State on Thursday (6 PM) and Bridgewater State on Saturday at 3 o'clock.
