Hurynowicz & Waldron Post Double-Doubles In Loss To Nittany Lions

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lancers (1-3, 0-0 MASCAC) traveled down south to Arlington, VA to face off against the Penn State-Harrisburg Nittany Lions (0-4, 0-0 UE) in the Pablo Coto Annual Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Marymount University.

RECAP:

 

This tournament matchup between the Lancers went down to the final minutes. Both teams were tied at 33-33 heading into halftime as each team traded baskets early in the game to keep this one tight. 

 

The Lancers were able to pull away in the third quarter, outsourcing the Nittany Lions 20-14 to bring the score to 53-47 in Worcester's favor heading into the fourth. 

 

Penn State-Harrisburg answered back in the fourth rallying to overcome their deficit to take the lead and eventually win the game.  

 

Sophomore guard Cameron Watkins (Dracut, MA) led Lancer scorers on the night with 20 points shooting 6-11 (54.3%) from the field. Teammate senior forward Katie Hurynowicz (Tyngsboro, MA) finished the night with a double-double, 13 points and 12 rebounds.

 

First-year Lena Waldron (Quincy, MA) finished with a double-double as well, as she scored 16 points and brought down 11 rebounds while shooting 3-4 (75%) from three-point range.

 

Junior forward Abby St. Martin (Putnam, CT) scored 14 points, making her the fourth Lancer to score double digits in Arlington tonight. 

 

With the loss, the Lancers drop to (1-4, 0-0 MASCAC) as the Nittany Lions improve to (1-4, 0-0 UE)

 

The next game for Worcester State will be back in the northeast in New Hampshire where they will tip off against Keene St. on Tuesday, November 21st with a 5 p.m. tip-off.
