Wozniak, Lee Named Inaugural ECHA Players of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. -- In the first weekend in it's existence, Worcester State women's ice hockey has had two players recognized by the Eastern Collegiate Hockey Alliance (ECHA) as Players of the Week.

Junior Cassidhe Wozniak (Turners Falls, Mass.) was named Player of the Week, and junior goalie Amber Lee (Nashua, N.H.) earned co-Goalie of the Week accolades as the awards were announced on Tuesday morning.

Wozniak picked up a natural hat trick in the Lancer's inaugural contest. Wozniak notched the program's first-goal, the ultimate game-winner, in the team's 5-0 victory over the Knights of Arcadia University. Lee opened the season with two wins over the Knights of Arcadia University on the road. She posted a 22-save shutout in the program's inaugural game, a 5-0 victory, and then backed up the performance with a 29 save, 3-2 (OT) victory the following day, recording a .99 GAA and .964 SV% in the 2-0 start for the Lancers.

The Lancers (2-0) will make history again when they play their first ever home game on Friday evening, hosting Suffolk at Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center. Puck drop will be at 6:10 PM.
