Reaugh Nets OT Game-Winner as Lancers Top Seahawks

WORCESTER, Mass. – Shelby Reaugh (Raleigh, N.C.) scored with 2:06 remaining in overtime and Worcester State women's ice hockey defeated Salve Regina 2-1 on Saturday night at Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.

Reaugh potted her second goal of the year during the 3v3 extra period to help Worcester State improve to 3-2-1.

Junior goalie Amber Lee (Nashua, N.H.) made 28 saves, including two massive stops on dangerous scoring chances for Salve Regina in overtime. The Seahawks had the puck for most of the first two and a half minutes, but Worcester finally got the puck in the offensive zone and made the most of their chance, with Kylian Kelly (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Sydney Vautour (South Hamilton, Mass.) setting up Reaugh for the game-winner.

The Lancers led from late in the first period through a scoreless second. Senior Julia Ravenelle (Barrington, N.H.) scored her first goal of the season in the final minute of the opening period to give the Lancers the lead heading to the first intermission. Ravenelle took the puck from sophomore Layna Pereiro (Chicago, Ill.) and fired a shot that slipped past Seahawks goalie Madison Jalbert (Beverly, Mass.).

Jalbert made 25 saves but fell to 1-3 in goal for Salve Regina, while Lee improves to 3-2-1 for the Lancers.

Emma Breen (Norwell, Mass.) got the Seahawks even with six and a half minutes left in regulation. Breen snapped off a shot to record her first career goal and knot things up at a goal apiece.

Breen's goal was on the powerplay, one of four PP opportunities for the Seahawks. Worcester State was held scoreless on their only power play opportunity of the night.

Worcester State will rest up through the Thanksgiving holiday before taking to the ice on November 27th. That night, the Lancers will visit Rivier for a 7:00 PM puck drop in Nashua.

Salve Regina will begina home and home with Wesleyan in Rhode Island on November 23rd.
