Eleven Lancers Record Points in Program’s Biggest Win

NASHUA, N.H. – Worcester State women's ice hockey got goals from six different players as they recorded a 7-0 victory over Rivier University on Saturday evening at Conway Center.

Eleven different players recorded points, including multi-point games from seven student-athletes as the Lancers (4-2-1) earned their biggest win in the first year of the program.

Cassidhe Wozniak (Turners Falls, Mass.) had a goal and two assists and Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) scored twice, while Amber Lee (Nashua, N.H.) recorded her second shutout of the season, making 13 saves while playing in her home town.

Worcester State outshot the Raiders (0-4) 47-13 and had a 41-20 edge in face-offs. Amy MacGlashing (Marlborough, Mass.) was 13-15 at the dot, while Conway won 10 of 16 faceoffs and Layna Pereiro (Chicago, Ill.) was 14-21, also recording an assist.

Katie Puumala (Framingham, Mass.) scored just 1:39 into play to notch the eventual game-winning goal. Wozniak and Conway had each scored as well by the 8:00 mark of the first period, and the Lancers took a 3-0 lead to the break. Sydney Vautour (S. Hamilton, Mass.) had a pair of assists in the opening frame.

Kiersten Erickson (Broomfield, Colo.) added to the lead at 5:19 of the second period, and Conway doubled her account, again in the eighth minute of the period. Julia Ravenelle (Barrington, N.H.) assisted on both goals in the second period, while Puumala and Kylian Kelly (Shrewsbury, Mass.) each picked up their second points of the game with helpers.

Trinity White (Sandwich, Mass.) and Emily Pavoni (Granby, Mass.) scored in the third, both assisted by Wozniak. Kelly Robbins (Tyngsboro, Mass.) picked up her second helper of the game on White's goal, while Alyssa Warren (Westfield, Mass.) helped set up Pavoni's marker, her first of the year.

The Lancers are unbeaten in their last three games and will be back on the ice tomorrow afternoon. Worcester State travels to Anna Maria for a 5:00 PM contest.
