Women’s Hockey Takes ECHA Matchup Against Amcats

Marlborough, Mass. – The Worcester State women's ice hockey team raced out to a 3-0 lead through two periods on their way to a 4-1 win over Anna Maria College in their first ever Eastern Collegiate Hockey Alliance (ECHA) game on Sunday evening at New England Sports Center.

The Lancers have won three straight and are now 5-2-1 on the season. Anna Maria dips to 3-6-1 (2-1-0 ECHA).

Four different skaters scored for the visitors, who took the lead with 3:30 to play in the first period on Sydney Vautor's (S. Hamilton, Mass.) first goal of the season.

Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) and Katie Puumala (Framingham, Mass.) assisted on Vautour's goal, giving them each five assists and a team-high 9 points on the year.

It took just thirty-seven seconds into the second period before Shelby Reaugh (Raleigh, N.C.) doubled Worcester's advantage. Ten minutes later, Emily Pavoni (Granby, Mass.) scored for the second straight night to make it 3-0 Lancers.

Amber Lee (Nashua, N.H.) made 19 stops and nearly recorded her second straight shutout until Abigail Vigliotte converted on the power-play with under a minute and a half remaining.

Forty-one seconds later, Amy MacGlashing (Marlborough, Mass.) answered with an empty net goal to put an exclamation mark on the win. It was the second point on the day for MacGlashing, who had an assisted on Reaugh's goal.

Kelly Robbins (Tyngsboro, Mass.) also had an assist on Reaugh's goal, while Anya Laxton (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Kiersten Erickson (Broomfield, Col.) got the helpers on Pavoni's marker.

Worcester State outshot Anna Maria 34-20, including 8-2 in the first period and 14-7 in the second.

The Lancers are back home on Thursday when they entertain Connecticut College at 7:10 PM.
