Lancers Keep Unbeaten Streak Alive with Near-Shutout of Bison

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – Worcester State women's ice hockey ran their unbeaten streak to six games and nearly collected their third shutout of the season with a 3-1 victory over Nichols on Saturday evening.

Amber Lee (Nashua, N.H.) made 45 saves and allowed just one goal for her sixth win of the season, as the Lancers improve to 6-2-1 on the season.

Cassidhe Wozniak (Turners Falls, Mass.) and Shelby Reaugh (Raleigh, N.C.) had a goal and an assist apiece, all part of a second period that saw the Lancers score all three of their goals.

Wozniak opened the scoring 2:24 into the period, with the helpers from Reaugh and Trinity White (Sandwich, Mass.).

Just over two minutes later, Katie Puumala (Framingham, Mass.) doubled their advantage after taking the feed from Sydney Vautour (S. Hamilton, Mass.) and Layna Pereiro (Chicago, Ill.). Puumala has now collected points in four straight games and scored in three of them, and she has 12 points on the season.

Reaugh made it 3-0 with three minutes remaining in the second, and that was how the teams went to the second break.

Wozniak helped set up Reaugh's goal, her fourth of the year, as did Amy MacGlashing (Marlborough, Mass.).

Megan Buxton ended Lee's shutout bid with just twenty-nine seconds left, putting the Bison on the board just before the final horn.

The Lancers are home again one week from today when they host Curry College at 7:40 PM on December 11th.
