Women’s Ice Hockey Closes Out 2021 with Third Shutout

SALEM, Mass. – Worcester State women's hockey will head into their winter break flying high, as the Lancers shut out Salem State 2-0 on Tuesday evening at Rockett Arena to push their unbeaten streak to seven games.

It's the third shutout of the year for the Lancers (7-2-2), who haven't been beaten since November 6th, going 5-0-2 in that span, including two clean sheets.

Shelby Reaugh (Raleigh, N.C.) scored the first of two goals within 2:31 in the second period, and that flurry of scoring was all the offense this game would see.

Cassidhe Wozniak (Turners Falls, Mass.) scored her team-leading eighth goal of the year for an insurance tally, and Amber Lee (Nashua, N.H.) made 22 stops as the Lancers outshot the Vikings 31-22.

Co-captains Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) and Julia Ravenelle (Barrington, N.H.) picked up the assists on Wozniak's goal. Conway, who was also 11-19 at the faceoff dot, leads the Lancers with eight assists, while Ravenelle earned her fourth helper of the season.

The game featured nine power play opportunities combined, but neither team capitalized on the opportunity. Worcester State was 0-5 with the extra attacker, while Salem State (2-10) went 0-4 on the PP.

Worcester State welcomes an opponent from well out of town to Fidelity Bank Ice Center on January 6th, as Saint Mary's of Minnesota comes to Worcester for a 5:10 PM puck drop.
